Earlier this year, Women Want Adventure met two incredibly driven ladies on a canoe trip up the Shoalhaven Gorge - Jasmine Bell and Sarah McGunness.

While we canoed up the gorge we had a chat to the ladies about their passions for adventure and protecting natural environments we love so much. The ladies have recently founded Plastic Free Kiama. This is a community group helping to raise awareness about the effects of single use plastics on our environment.

Since launching Plastic Free Kiama they have created a number of community events and movements in the town to stop using plastic. 

At Women Want Adventure, we support the conversation of the outdoors and love what Jasmine and Sarah are working towards. The ladies are about to host the premier BLUE movie and need your support for this special event. 

BLUE is a film about how the oceans are broken, and what can be done to fix them. Half of all marine life has been lost in the last 40 years. And by 2050 there will be more plastic in the sea than fish. Featuring passionate advocates for ocean preservation, the film tackles themes of habitat destruction, species loss and pollution. Filmed in the seas surrounding Australia, Indonesia, the Philippines and the USA, BLUE looks at how the very nature of the ocean is being altered. Our ocean has been the guardian of life on earth. Now it is our turn to be guardians for the ocean.

Plastic Free Kiama will be hosting a once only screening of Blue the Film on December 7th at Hoyt's Cinema Warrawong.
