Itinerary

We’ll start the day meeting at Wog Wog Campground at 8.30am sharp. After getting to know your fellow hikers and a trip briefing to go over gear and allocate items, you’ll head off, meandering through open forest, then onto an old 4WD track before entering a single foot track.

After an hour you’ll start to reach conglomerate outcrops in the bush. There is a large one on the right hand side of the track called Tinderry Lookout, and can easily be climbed, with extensive views to the west. You will be be amazed by the re-growth post fires and in awe of the resilience of the bush in this section.

From here, we head further into the Budawangs, rewarded with views of the south coast as we begin to reach Corang Arch where we will stop for lunch. Corang Arch is an incredible rock formation. You won’t believe it’s structure until you see it in person!

After lunch, we continue north, scrambling down rocks to reach the base of the valley. Huge rock formations tower above us as we begin are hike further into the valley to find camp.

Once at camp, you will have the chance to explore the magnificent caves and surrounding area without carrying your overnight pack. Our group will set up base, enjoy afternoon tea and a warm cuppa before setting up our tents for the night. Your guide will prepare a warm meal as you watch the sun set over the bushland and sit in awe at the magnificence of this place.

On day two, you’ll be in love with the area and won’t want to leave. Trust us, it happened every time! As you drink a hot cuppa and watch the sun peak over the ocean in the far distance, you will have your chance to soak it all in before packing up camp and returning via the same trail to Wog Wog, a 13km return journey.

Grading

Grading: Challenging

Women Want Adventure is taking intermediate to experienced hikers on this trip. This means women should feel confident to be on their feet hiking between 6-8 hours, prepared for off track sections and have the ability to carry an overnight pack. We advise this to not be your first overnight hike experience with us.

The trip is graded challenging due to uneven terrain, steep gullies descents and rock scrambling; and in some cases navigating without a track for longer periods. It’s  important women understand that a good level of fitness if required to successfully complete this walk. Please note, parts of the track may be wet underfoot.

Budawangs Testimonial

I know this is TOTALLY bias. Jumping into a testimonial from a guides perspective. Too bad, here is what I have to say. We have been waiting (a long time) for the fires, floods and Covid-19 to settle to announce these trips. It feels like you go back in time in the Budawangs. It is rich with cultural, geological and natural history, it is no wonder it is declared a wilderness area. It is safe to say I have hiked (a lot), and the Budawangs would have to be up there with the most incredible hiking I have ever done. You will get what I mean when you experience this special land on Yuin country. I encourage women who have been waiting for these hikes to jump in an give themselves a chance to discover not only something new, but push themselves into a place they would have never ventured alone. Honestly? Just do it!!!! PS - I give it 6 stars. Not kidding.
