• Trip name: Kambah pool to Casuarina sands on the Murrumbidgee Discovery Trail
• When: Saturday 22 September
• Start time: 8am meeting at Casuarina Sands. Car pool for 20 minute drive to Kambah pool. Please arrive on time!
• Finish time: 4.30 pm at Casuarina Sands. Transfer back to Kambah pool to collect vehicles from the morning.

We will follow the Murrumbidgee Discovery Track from Kambah Pool to Casuarina Sands (requires a car swap). A couple of geocaches to pick up along the way. There are great views of the river and surrounding countryside all the way. The track initially traverses open grazing country and rises high above the river, before descending to hug the river and passing river oaks, red stringy barks and scribbly gums on the drier slopes. An easy walk on trail; don t be put off by the very hard classification on the website! I predict ~ 7-8 hours at a slow pace.

How to get to the meeting location:

Head out of Canberra past Mt Stromlo, along Cotter Road. Turn into the Casuarina Sands carpark (before you cross the bridge over the Cotter river). From there, turn left into the upper carpark and park at the far end.

FAQ's

WhHow hard is this Meet Up? This is a relatively easy walk on a well-marked and maintained trail. It is relatively long (14 km) and the surface can be rough underfoot at times. However, please don t believe the very hard classification if you google the walk. Please however be mindful that it takes a long time to walk this track.

Why is a car swap required? The track is 14 km one way. We will meet at Casuarina Sands, take a couple of vehicles to Kambah Pool, walk back up to Casuarina Sands, and then one person will need to drive the drivers of the vehicles used in the morning back to Kambah pool to collect the vehicles.

What will be the pace of the walk? Slow. I ve completed this walk in 6.5 hours at a leisurely pace with stops for geocaches. The 7-8 hour timeframe leaves plenty of time for breaks and photo opportunities.

Can I bring my daughter, she's 15? Sorry. Women Want Advneture is a community group for women over the age of 18 years only.

Is it okay if I turn up individully? Yes of course! This is the whole point of the walks. Meet other like minded wome just like you :)

Do I need to register or can I just turn up on the day? You must register for this walk. We only take 15 women on these hikes and want to know who is coming on the day.
