Travel & Outdoor

Details

Fed up with not having the time to get away most weekends, but looking for something to do close to Sydney?

Craving an adventure, but nothing to strenuous? .

Determined to try something new, even if it s on your own!?

Here s how Women Want Adventure can help - a fabulous day paddling on the Port Hacking, NSW.

Starting at Bundeena, we ll take you up South West Arm for a swim, cuppa tea and explore of the hidden gems, only accessible via kayak.

Meeting at Bonnie Vale in Bundenna, your guide will take you through a basic skills briefing before you jump (well step) into double sit on top kayaks. It s roughly a 1.5 hour paddle before we stop for a delicious bite to eat.

After bellies full and maybe a swim if you like, we return to Bundeena, usually timed with the tide.

*Tides and winds may alter the course of the trip, and sometimes the wind may make the paddle a little harder. Your guide will alter the trip to suit the group and weather conditions.

FAQ'S

Please view our FAQs page for a list of many answers to common questions.

  • So, what exactly is Women Want Adventure? Do I have to be a young, super fit, experienced adventurer to attend? Nope, you certainly do not. You can be a beginner to advanced (or anywhere in-between). Women Want Adventure is all about women coming together to try something new, make friendships, experience challenges, surprises and enjoyment of adventure. Our youngest member is mid 20 s, our oldest is 71, and 75% of women turn up individually.
  • Is there a minimum or maximum age limit? All trips are for women over the age of 18 years. We don t have an age limit however, we encourage you to read the grading to ensure you are feeling fit and confident to complete the adventure.
  • What do I need to wear in the kayak? Light shorts and an exercise top with swimmers under is best. A long sleeve top to help protect you from the sun is also advised. Hats with a draw string are helpful on windy days.
  • Do I need to be fit for this trip? A minimal level of fitness is required. If you can walk around the block at home, you are more than capable of attending. Don't let your thought of "I'm not good enough" hold you back! We support and encourage all women. You will be in a double kayak which helps with the paddle effort.
  • What if it's raining? Women Want Adventure trips still go ahead in all types of weather unless electrical storms. If it is very windy this trip may need to be postponed.
  • Can you help arrange my transport and travel? Travel is by individual means only. We do not arrange group transfers. If requested by email, we can assist in connecting you with other women to arrange car-pooling options. However, due to Covid-19, we have not encouraged group sharing.
