On this paddle, led by Cathy Miller, you will experience it all. The tree-clad banks, impressive sandstone rock formations, the amazing serenity as the river twists and turns + women who want to paddle, laugh and have a great time!

We will explore the river from the weir at Fuller s Bridge all the way down to the Harbour. We have special permission to go ashore at St. Ignatius Riverview College to walk through their beautiful rose garden and admire their fully restored 1880 s main building. Quite breathtaking. Lunch and a lovely swimming opportunity at a boutique sandy beach while we admire the sweeping view to the Sydney Harbour Bridge.



DETAILS:

Meeting time: 8.45am

Paddle commences: 9am

Meeting point: Wirong Flat, on River Avenue. If you are driving, find your way to the intersection of River Avenue and Delhi Road, alongside Fullers Bridge. Get there from the east on Millwood Avenue, from the north via Lady Game Drive and the west/south on Delhi Road.

Finish: Between 3.00-3.30pm

Grade: Easy-moderate

Paddle distance: 15kms (you will be in double kayaks to support each other)

ABOUT:

From our gathering point at Wirong Flat on River Avenue Lane Cove, we'll start with a technique and safety briefing to make sure you feel comfortable in the kayaks. We then head upstream to the weir - then downstream to Sugarloaf Reserve for a morning tea break. The river twists and turns as it passes through the Lane Cove River National Park. Very pretty. Our lunch spot will be at a boutique beach on the harbour (you ll have a great view of the bridge), where you ll be able to swim if you wish.

FAQ's

What if it is raining?

We'll go if showers are predicted but not if continuous rain, high winds or thunder and lightning are on the agenda. If in doubt on the day ring us just after 7am. If the paddle has to be postponed because of the conditions we will email you at 7am. No email = the paddle is on.

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

Yes. You must be over the age of 18 years to attend this trip.

What do I need to wear in the kayak?

Comfortable clothing. Old shorts or tights. You can wear your swimmers with a rash shirt. Basic gym clothes work best.

Do I need to be fit for this trip?

This is a beginner level tour. Women are in double kayak which means your can team up with your buddy if you feel a little tired. We always support everyone and go at a pace that works for the whole group.

What is the cancellation policy?

We hope you do not need to cancel your trip, however if cancellation takes place the following will apply:

  • More than 30 days before the trip there is no charge
  • 29-15 days before the scheduled trip there is a 20% administration fee
  • 14 days or less before the scheduled trip the full fee will be charged (100% of the participant cost).

Please be aware that if a participant cancels their trip once it commences or they do not show they also forfeit their full trip cost. Late arrival of a participant or participants on the day may also forfeit the full trip cost. Women Want Adventure may reduce, transfer or waive the loss of fee for any reason at their sole discretion.

In the event of adverse weather conditions, Women Want Adventure reserves the right to change, alter or cancel this trip in the interests of client safety. Women Want Adventure will notify all participants as soon as possible on the day.

Cancelation due to weather:

Participants will hear from us if we need to cancel the day due to the weather. Participants must assume the day is going ahead if they do not hear from Women Want Adventures otherwise. If participants cancel their trip on the basis of weather (and we have not cancelled it ourselves) no refund will be given. If weather conditions cause us to cancel the trip we will offer alternative dates however if this option is not possible for participants refer to the Women Want Adventure Credit and Refund Policy.
