Women's New Zealand FREE Meet Up Te Henga

Hike: Te Henga Walkway. From Bethells Road to Raetahinga Point.

Meeting location: Second parking area (cloest to the beach and with the bathroom sign) Bethells Beach (Te Henga).

Start time: Meeting 8.45am to leave at 9.00am. Please be on time.

Finish time: Between 12.30 -1pm.

Grade: Easy- moderate walking track. Suitable for beginners and ladies getting into hiking. Some hills and steep sections involved. We go slow and make sure the pace it suitable for everyone.

Distance: 7km 3.5 hours return hike.

Closest city: Auckland 37km away.

ABOUT:

Women Want Adventure are hosting another New Zealand Hiking Meet Up! Although an Australian community, we love our New Zealand sisters and aim to introduce a Women Want Adventure network for women in New Zealand.

This Meet Up is a great way to connect with like-minded women. Try a new trail. Make a new friend. We re all about connecting and supporting women to step out of their comfort zones and get into nature for their 'girly' catch ups.

This hike takes you from Bethells Road car park (where we meet) and crosses the Waitakere River by footbridge, rising along a graded section, to superb views of lagoons, dunes and the west coast surf down to O Neill's Bay, where you can return along Bethells Beach.

The track climbs steeply then follows along the cliff-top with a fantastic view of the ocean. The track exits through a farm valley and another steep climb to Constable Road. Care is needed on this track, which traverses coastal cliffs and is uneven and muddy in places. Please make sure you were sturdy shoes.

WHAT TO BRING:

• Walking shoes or boots
• Hat
• Sunglasses
• 2L Water
• Sunscreen
• Waterproof jacket if it s raining
• Small back pack for your personal items
• Personal medication
• Hiking poles (optional)
• Light snack/morning tea to eat from the lookout at the top

Bathrooms: There are bathrooms at the surf club where we can pass on our walk. Please try and go before we meet.

How to get there: Bethells Beach (Te Henga) is 37 km from downtown Auckland, on the west coast. From here the track is signposted near a bridge 1 km before the end of Bethells Rd opposite Lake Wainamu carpark. The northern entrance to Te Henga Walkway is from Constable Rd, off Oaia Rd, Muriwai. The northern entrance is 46 km from downtown Auckland.

FAQs

How old do I need to be to attend this trip?
Women Want Adventure Trips are for women only, and over the age of 18 years.

How physically fit do I need to be to attend this trip, I'm afraid I'll hold the group back. This trip is suited for beginners. There are steep hills invovled so a regular walker would be great for this hike.

What is the average age of women attending? Women in from there mid 20's to late 60's.

What if I register and then I can't attend? Please let us know as soon as possible as we can only take so man women with us.

Can I purcahse a top at this event? Our tops can be purchased online via our website www.womenwantadvenure.com.au there will be no sales on the day.
