Our women's New Zealand Trip starts and finishes in Queenstown - the adventure capital of New Zealand.

We begin our first hike out of Queenstown up the famous Ben Lomond Trail. It's a steady climb to the summit of 1736m and well worth the 360 views of Queenstown and the Remarkable mountain ranges. The follow days we enjoy the world heritage area of Fiordland National Park with a stunning hike to Lake Marian. It's an early start the following day to experience the serenity of beautiful mountain ranges and waterfalls as you kayak in Milord Sound and hike the Key Summit Track in the afternoon.

It's then time we prepare for our overnight hike to alpine Green Lake Hut! A night in the middle of the wilderness. It doesn't stop there. We hike out from Green Lake Hut and drive to Wanaka to prepare for the following overnight hike in Mt Aspiring National Park, one of the most majestic places, passing by Rob Roy Glacier. This is a special combined hiking and kayaking trip. A fully packed and planned trip by our Team to make the most of your time in New Zealand.

Itinerary

We meet in Queenstown at Pinewood Lodge Accommodation from 2pm. This day is the arrival time to settle into accommodation and prepare for the trip ahead. Pinewood is a shared, self-contained unit with a kitchen, bathroom block and living area. A pre trip briefing will be held at Pinewood at 5pm. The group has the option to then head out for dinner in Queenstown. Accommodation Pinewood Lodge Queenstown - included (twin share) Meals Dinner at groups own cost
The Ben Lomond Track is a demanding yet rewarding full day hike with a 1,438 m elevation gain. On clear days, expect to see spectacular panoramic views of Queenstown and beyond. Our group will catch the Gondola a quarter of the way up the trail, cutting off much of the elevation and trail time. From here, it is a steady climb to the saddle before a steeper section to the summit. Women can choose stop at the saddle or hike as much as these choose towards the summit. It is a return hike, so your guide will collect you on the way back down the mountain or meet you in the Gondola cafe for a well deserved coffee. After a hearty breakfast, we are collected from our accommodation at 7.00am to begin the journey south towards Te Anau. Todays hike is on a section of the famous Kepler Track. The trail passes beneath towering limestone bluffs and through mountain and silver beech forests. From the tree line you will get tremendous views of lakes Te Anau and Manapouri. Return via the same track back down to the lake and our nights accommodation at Te Anau Lakeview Park. Hiking: The Kepler Track is 6 hours return // 15km Graded: Easy to moderate. Some steep sections when climbing up the hill (optional) Accommodation: Cabins at Te Anau. Twin shared accommodation Meals: Includes breakfast, lunch, hiking snacks and dinner
We wake early for breakfast before collected by Rosco�s, kayaking company for the drive into Milford Sound (approx. 1.45 mins). The drive is stunning. Today we kayak past majestic waterfalls, cute seals and wildlife. You do not need any previous kayaking experience and will be a sturdy double kayaks. The kayaking is approximately 3 hours. After a fabulous time on the water, it is back on the road to travel to the cute Monowai Cabins. At the cabins, we prepare our gear for the overnight hike, leaving behind additional clothing and items at the cabin we dont need. Kayaking: 2.5-3 hours Graded: Easy Accommodation: Monowai cabins. Individual rooms Meals: Breakfast, lunch, kayaking snacks, dinner
Get ready for the wilderness! Today we hike through beech forest and lower tussocks of the Hunter Range. The trail leads to a lakeshore where we meander around the lake edge until our cosy mountain hut becomes visible. The only way to get to the hut is via foot, so expect to be the only visitors or meet some fellow friendly hikers. Feel free to take a dip in the frigid waters of the lake while your guides prepare a hot meal, before settling down in front of the hut fire for the night. Hiking: Green Lake Hut � 3.5 hours // 6km. Graded: Easy- moderate. The trail has uneven surfaces, roots and is wet. This makes it a moderate experience Ascent and descent: 250m Accommodation: Green Lake Hut (public shared cabin) Meals: Includes breakfast, lunch, hiking snacks and dinner
We wake while enjoying the remote setting as your guide hands you a hot cup of coffee. It is then back on the trail to return through the beech forest. Once we reach the bus, it is time to rest the legs on 3.5hours drive to Wanaka. On arrival, hit the spa to freshen up or take a stroll to visit the Wanaka lakeside. Tonight the group heads out for dinner in Wanaka. Hiking Hike out from Green Lake Hut - 6km // 3.5 hours Graded Easy- moderate. Shuttle time 3.5-4 hours to Wanaka Accommodation Wanaka Altamont Lodge (twin share) Meals Includes breakfast, lunch, hiking snacks and dinner
Step into one of the most majestic places in New Zealand � Mt Aspiring National Park. Today we re-pack our overnight packs to hike into Mt Aspiring Hut. It is an easy walk on a wide trail, giving you plenty of time to look up in awe of the Rob Roy Glacier as you pass. Tonights accommodation is at the Mt Aspiring Hut, which has 360 degree views of the stunning valley. Hiking Mt Aspiring National Park- 3 hours // 9km Graded Easy Accommodation Mt Aspiring National Park Hut (group shares one room together in bunks) Meals Includes breakfast, lunch, hiking snacks and dinner
Wake to the sun peaking over Mt Aspiring. It is so beautiful you wont want to leave. Today we hike back on the trail, laughing, singing and reminiscing about the week just past. It is then on to the journey back to Queenstown where your guides will drop you at a central location for the trip departure between 4-5pm. Please do not book your flight home on this day. It is best to depart the following morning unless continuing your adventure in New Zealand. Hiking Hike out from Aspiring Hut - 3 hours // 9km Graded Easy Accommodation Groups own cost and arrangement. We will drop at one central point in Queenstown between 4-5pm

HOW FIT DO YOU NEED TO BE?

Grade: Moderate – hard

This trip will require you to be hiking between 3-6 hours on some days. We hike at a slow and steady pace and ensure women feel comfortable. The trails will take us through varied paths, muddy and rocky sections with steep inclines. There are also sections of easy and flat walking.

We suggest bringing your hiking poles for additional support. Even through some of the trails are hard in sections, they are achievable. Please be prepared to walk in a variety of weather conditions. We have women from 25 years to 65 years attend these trips. You can be a beginner or advanced.  

To make your trip more enjoyable, get walking! We suggest 2 walks a week of 5-10km including stairs or hills. Extra points if you explore your local walking trails.

Thank you for an adventure of a lifetime!

I think it will be the only time I ever slept in a mountain hut or hiked in freezing conditions. I did it myself and I'm so proud of it. I had so many highlights but the purpose of this journey was to challenge my pace to slow down in life and meet new people. I certainly accomplished both.

I felt STRONG and INSPIRED!

I've had such a great time. On the last day, as I somehow felt inspired to sing and dance my way out of Mt Aspiring National Park, I felt STRONG and INSPIRED! I want more of this and the fun we all shared. Whoops, too many "inspired" but that's honestly how I feel. I also loved the farewell dinner and how it was so nice to see us together like friends who had known each other for a lifetime. I'll be back!
