Come and join Women Want Adventure in Onley State Forest for a women s hike exploring the beautiful Abbott s Creek area. This is a moderate hike on uneven single-track path and some off-track areas. We start in pine plantations and dry eucalypt forest before descending steeply though dry rainforest to Abbott s Creek.

Access to the bottom of the falls requires a short downclimb through a narrow slot in the rock. At the falls we can explore an overhung cave with stalactites and maybes some bats! Departing the falls, we will have a (short) steep climb back to fire trail and eucalypt forest. On our return to we will stop at Dammed Pool by Dora Creek where we can see deep Aboriginal carved grooves.

• Distance: 7.5km return hike
• Hours: 5 hours return
• Grade: Moderate. You need to be comfortable to walk longer distances.
• Meeting time: 10.00am
• Meeting Location: Pines Forest Park Picnic Area, Palmers Rd, Olney State Forest (different to The Pines Camping Area). This approx. 1hr 20mins for inner Newcastle. https://goo.gl/maps/NgFA6SqpSkD2.
• Finish time: Between 3.30pm
• Cost: $110pp + fee.

• Warm jacket
• Waterproof jacket in case of rain/wind
• Good walking shoes or boots
• Drink bottle with 2-3L capacity.

HOW TO GET THERE:

1. Directions to Pines Picnic Area:
2. From Freeman s Rd, Cooranbong, turn right onto Martinsville Rd.
3. Heading North from Sydney take the Mandalong Rd Exit, heading west. Turn right into Deaves Rd, Turn left onto Freeman s drive, turn left onto Martinsville Rd.
4. From Martinsville Rd, after 4.5km turn left onto Watagan Rd.
5. After 3.3km stay left to remain on Watagan Rd.
6. After 6.3km turn right onto Palmers Rd.
7. After 500m turn right, in 10m you will arrive at The Pines Picnic Area.

NOTE: You are not going to The Pines Camping Ground.

FAQ's

How old do I need to be to attend this trip?
Women Want Adventure Trips are for women only, and over the age of 18 years.

Are there bathrooms at this location? Bathrooms are available at The Pines camp ground and forest park. For bathroom needs on track please bring your own supplies.

How physically fit do I need to be to attend this trip, I'm afraid I'll hold the group back. This walk will require base level of fitness (we go slow on the steep sections), but it is on uneven ground which will require a moderate level of co-ordination or walking poles!

I have a gluten free diet, do you cater for me for morning tea? Yes. We have plenty of gluten free options for you.

What is the average age of women attending? Women between 25-65 years.

Can I bring my own snacks? Yes of course!

Is our leader male or female? Female leaders only.

What if I book and then I can't attend? Please read our Terms and Conditions upon booking and notify us in writing as soon as possible, cancellation fees apply. You can transfer a ticket to a friend if you know someone who can attend.

Cancellation Policy:

We hope you do not need to cancel your trip, however if cancellation takes place the following will apply:

• More than 30 days before the trip there is no charge
• 29-15 days before the scheduled trip there is a 20% administration fee
• 14 days or less before the scheduled trip the full fee will be charged (100% of the participant cost).
