Abseil, cliff jump, slide and laugh your way down the beautiful Illawarra Escarpment Rainforest Canyon with a great group of women.

This is a beginner friendly Canyon to immerse yourself in the fresh beautiful waters of the rainforest. Enjoy the spectacle of some of the South Coats best waterfalls all falling into one breathtaking natural gorge as we go.

Located approximately an hour from Sydney, in one of Australia s most southerly stands of subtropical rainforest and endangered warm temperate rainforest. This canyon features great views of the Illawarra Escarpment, the Pacific Ocean and local wildlife.

The highlights of this canyon are a great variety of rock slides, big rock jumps (optional) and waterfall abseils. Whatever your experience, fitness level or confidence this canyon has something for everyone.

The Rainforest Canyon finishes at a picturesque waterfall and rock pool, perfect for swimming in the sun. Here you can practice your rock climbing on a boulder wall and jump and slide to your heart s content.

You don't need any previous experience or rope handling skills. On the day our Qualified Instructor (James) will take us through the skills on how to abseil and all safety requirements.

A full day of adventure with us includes a delicious lunch and snacks, and all adventures include modern and top of the line equipment to ensure that you have the best possible experience.

Meeting Time: 8.15am

Meeting Location: Please meet at the KFC carpark at 145 Tongarra Rd, Albion Park NSW 2527. Google Maps directions can be found above. (no getting a sneaky snack, we're here for healthy outdoor experiences! Late arrival will result in your tour commencing without you.

Difficulty: Suitable for beginners.

Optional extra obstacles also make this canyon rewarding for keen individuals.

Requirements: Moderate level of fitness, good general health, comfortable in water.

Length: Approximately 6.5 hours.

WHAT TO BRING

  • Secure waterproof containers will be provided for personal items
  • Durable older clothing. Dress weather appropriately (check weather forecasts)
  • Running shoes, joggers or trainers to wear in the canyon (they will get wet). Shoes must be enclosed
  • Swimming attire (wear under clothes)
  • 2 litres of water
  • Sunscreen
  • Hair ties for long hair
  • Sunglasses (optional)
  • Rain jacket (check weather forecasts)
  • Camera (optional, must be waterproof and strongly tied to your body)

  • Transport to and from pick up location

Leave the following behind in your car for after the tour:

  • A towel
  • Change of clothes
  • Change of footwear
  • Please leave valuables at home as we cannot guarantee their safety

Other things you may want to know:

Ont he way, you will get a shuttle from the pick up location to the start. From the shuttle you walk 25-30 minutes on an easy fire trail in your gym/normal walking clothes and shoes. When you reach the canyon, you will get cahnged into your wetsuit. Everyone carries a backpack where you can place your clothes and items. Dry bags are provided for you.

If it is sunny, it is best to wear a hat and sunscreen to protect yourself.

At the end of the day, you will change out of your wetsuit and walk 15 minutes back to the shuttle. Your car keys will be safe with the leader.

FAQ

How old do I need to be to attend?

Women Want Adventure trips are for women over the age of 18 years unless accompanied by an adult.

Do I need any experience?

No. This trip is designed to teach you the fundamental skills of abseiling through a canyon. The qualified leaders will assist you and you will always be safe.

Can I attend individually?

Yes! Many of the women who attend our trips turn up individually and make very good friends with the other ladies in our community. We welcome everyone.

Cancelation Policy:

Cancellation of a booking by You must be made in writing. It is up to you to cancel your booking. We will not regard a booking as cancelled unless and until written notice is received by us. On cancellation the following charges will apply:

Day Trips

14+ days prior to departure of a trip, a 20% administration fee based on the price of the trip will be deducted from your refund.

14 days or less prior to scheduled departure 100% of the trip costs will be payable or forfeited (where already paid). If a waitlist client takes up the place, a 20% administration fee based on the price of the trip will be deducted from your refund.
