  • I’ve been on a few day hikes with Women Want Adventure but never overnight, would this trip be suited for me? As long as you feel comfortable to walk up and down steps carrying your pack of 12-15kg. Having experience bushwalking is great and you will be more suited for this trip.
  • Because the trip is graded moderate, does this mean first timers to overnight hiking can’t attend? Not at all. We want to make sure women who book don’t get a surprise of what it’s like to walk up and down steps, along soft sand, on loose terrain and crossing inlets. This trip is still suitable for first timers, come along!
  • Should I bring my own Jet Boil for boiling water? No need. Your guide will have water boiled for you.
  • Can I bring my daughter, she’s 17? Sorry, this trip is over 18 years only.

Itinerary

Leave the bustle of the city behind on this two day women’s overnight hike to Cox River. You will have the chance to cross the Swing Bridge and take a dip in the river.

Meeting at Megalong Valley Tea Rooms, your guide will take you through a welcome briefing and distribute group gear/food. A chance to learn how to best prepare and arrange your pack. Ask us the hard questions, we’re here to help!

From Megalong Valley Tea Rooms, it’s a short 10 minute drive down the road to our starting point. We meet at the Tea Rooms as there is a lot of room to sort gear, a bathroom and a chance to grab a coffee.

The Six Foot Track can be broken into different sections from Katoomba all the way to Jenolan Caves. It's usually a 3 day challenge stretch, however we like pretty things, so choose the more scenic sections from Megalong Valley Road to the Cox River (Swing Bridge) and return.

You’ll cross farm land with cows and head into the valley towards the Cox River for a relaxing afternoon at camp.

The following awake to the smell the coffee from your tent. Wake up slow and enjoy relaxing into the morning.

After a pack up at camp, we begin the hreturn hike back to our cars at Megalong Valley Road. If you have the time, we'll stop back past the Tea Rooms for some famous scones (on us!).

Finishing between 1-1.30pm.
