Women's Snowshoeing Camping Trip 1st- 3rd September

Please register your interest for the women s snow shoeing trip. Monique will email all the women on this list when we open up the bookings in the next week. We are in the process of finalising a few trip details/logistics before opening this trip up. Very exciting!

Dates: 1-3rd September 2018

Level: Moderate. You need to be relatively fit and enthusiastic and understand we are walking in snow and variable conditions that can be challenging with changes in weather. The whole group will be to be flexible. We will always put your safety first. This is a beginners style course to educate you on how to navigate in the snow and learn how to camp!

Ages: Over 18 years. Most women are between 20-65 years in our community

Destination: Porcupine Rock / Perisher

Accommodation: Participants will need to book accommodation in Jindabyne on Friday night (August 31st).

Numbers: 8 women maximum with 2 female guides and 1 male guide

Cost: $1390 + GST per person (50% payment plan available)

Deposit: $150 (non refundable)

You will learn: (this is a very educational trip to learn snow camping skills and navigation)

  • How to snow shoe

  • How to set up camp in the snow

Day 1: Meet in Jindabyne for Introductions at 9am at the Big 4 Park, Briefing, Equipment Issue, Personal Clothing / Gear Check - Travel to Perishervia 4WD - Snow Safety Training - Snowshoe Training And Practice - Travel By Snowshoe To Basecamp Mount Wheatly on (Approx 2 kms) - Overnight In Mountain Tents

Day 2: Basecamp Porcupine Rocks (on Snowshoes) - Lunch and Return to Basecamp (approx. 7 km return)

Day 3: Basecamp Perisher Return - Jindabyne - Arrive Jindabyne Early Afternoon between 1-3pm

Women's Snow Shoeing Trip

We provide:

  • Snow Tents
  • Stoves
  • Snow Shoes & Poles
  • Snow shovels
  • Technical, Navigation, First aid and Safety Equipment
  • Food (2 breakfast, lunch and dinners)
  • Three staff for the program

We can help supply. (You will need to let us know when booking)

Participants must pack:

  • Clothing (list will be provided in depth to all ladies who have booked)
  • Snacks
  • Water/drinks
  • Own transport

Equipment List: All items are ESSENTIAL

  • Jacket with hood (wind & waterproof & breathable, (Gortex or similar)
  • Overpants wind & waterproof & breathable, (Gortex or similar)
  • Underwear
  • Ski/Hiking Socks (2 pairs)
  • Outdoor style shoes/boots
  • Polypropylene/woollen long johns
  • Base layer top Polypropylene/woollen Thermal top
  • Mid weight fleece pants
  • Mid weight fleece top
  • Down jacket
  • Sunhat/cap
  • Fleece/wool hat
  • Neck muff or balaclava
  • Liner gloves wool or synthetic
  • Mountain / ski gloves or mitts (wind & waterproof)
  • Pack (large internal frame model approx 60 -75 litres capacity)
  • Sleeping bag (down or synthetic, 4 season/snow)
  • Sleeping mat (closed cell foam and/or self inflating mat)
  • Water Capacity minimum 2 litres
  • Eating utensils (Bowl, mug and knife, fork and spoon)
  • Headlamp (with spare batteries and bulb)
  • Sunglasses (suitable for snow use)
  • Snow goggles
  • Sunscreen and lip salve (high protection rating)
  • Notebook and pen
  • Whistle
  • Personal first aid kit includes blister tape and any personal medication required
  • Personal T oiletries (toothbrush, etc)

How old do I need to be to attend this trip?
Women Want Adventure Trips are for women only, and over the age of 18 years.

How physically fit do I need to be to attend this trip, I'm afraid I'll hold the group back. This trip is graded moderate. You need to be a regular walker and be comfortable to face windy and snow conditions.

I have a gluten free diet, do you cater for me for morning tea? Yes. We have plenty of gluten free options for you.

What is the average age of women attending? Women between 20-60 years.

What if I book and then I can't attend? Please read our Terms and Conditions upon booking and notify us in writing as soon as possible, cancellation fees apply. You can transfer a ticket to a friend if you know someone who can attend.
