Hi, Adventurer My Account

Women's Snowshoeing Trip // 9th - 11th September

Our Larger Trips

Summary

Want to explore the wonders of the Australian Alps in the best way possible? Join us as we spend 2 nights snowshoeing and camping in the rolling backcountry of Mount Kosciuszko National Park.

It’s our own strong women’s snow club. An inclusive snowshoeing and camping adventure in an awesome location. A super chilled, supportive atmosphere based on sharing skills and a love for the outdoors. Cold ones.

With fully qualified female guides planning and running your trip we like to think we know how to take you on a proper adventure. Want to join us?

We start our snow adventure from Guthega Power Station and head toward Horse Camp Hut where we set up a Base Camp. As you gain confidence on the snowshoes, we begin to explore the rolling grounds on day two and earn some of the best views of the mountains.

You will complete 3 days of snowshoeing and 2 nights camping, averaging between 8-12km daily.

Being with an experienced female wilderness guide you can spend the evenings learning more about snow skills, snow camping and navigation.

At the end of each day, hold a warm cup of miso soup or tea and enjoy a delicious dinner with your group, maybe even a sneaky dessert!

Details

This is the perfect adventure for those women looking for a proper adventure, not necessarily with any previous snow experience of camping in the snow (not many of us have), but who are looking for a new experience away from the crowds.

For this tour you should be in good health, have a good level of fitness as we will snowshoe about 8-10km a day, with a few climbs involved each day.

Please note that since this is a remote wilderness tour, some changes to the itinerary are possible on the location due to weather and similar reasons.

Grading

Grading: Moderate

Good level of fitness is required.

You need to be enthusiastic and understand walking in the snow can be challenging at times with unpredictable weather. The hiking is not overaly hard, however we ask women to have a good level of fitness to be able to walk with an overnight pack (15-17kg). We share group gear and keep packs as light as possible.

Preparation with the right gear is essential. This is truly an adventure! Be prepared for an experience of fun, excitment and something totally different.

First trip! Loved it.

This was my first time with Women Want Adventure and I have to say it was just great getting together with a bunch of like-minded women enjoying the amazing weather we had! We got really lucky with blue sky which made it comfortable to relax at the top on the Rolling Grounds. Thank you to guides Bindi and Lizzy on this trip. Lizzy - still have to give me the laksa recipe! I’d be keen for an even longer trip or to try out the skies next time. I will certainly be looking to next winter for another walking holiday. Keep up the great work. Kath.

Snowshoeing Testimonial

My friend Zoe and I had a brilliant time and the trip was amazing! We were lucky with sunny skies all three days and loved the walking up onto the hills. The standard of guiding, food and also the care of everyone was top notch. I had only ever camped once before and threw myself into this trip with my friend. We learned a lot about camping in the snow and our guide taught us about some navigation too which was cool! Would highly recommend this trip and totally coming back next year for a new route!
