Details

Join us in celebrating International Women's Day with a hike along Lady Carrington Drive in the Royal National Park.

International Women's Day is not only a time to celebrate women; it's a day to celebrate you every day.

We celebrate in the joy of being outdoors, of being women. We celebrate overcoming our fears, barriers, life's burdens, and the challenges we face. Together, we hike mountains, kayak rivers, explore canyons, and even the depths of a scroggin bag, standing united with one another. We strive for the warmth of a decent fire, the resilience to continue on our trails, and the courage to simply show up.

In our daily lives, and as part of Women Want Adventure (WWA), we cherish the opportunity to celebrate the remarkable strength and courage of women. We reflect on the past and look forward to a future where more women confidently say "yes," despite being told they can't.

Your stories sometimes uplifting, sometimes heartbreaking, always powerful of extraordinary women we meet along the way, inspire us all.

We invite you to walk with us this International Women's Day, Friday, 8th March, on Lady Carrington Drive in the Royal National Park, alongside our founder, Monique Farmer.

Monique is deeply passionate about connecting women with nature through adventure and championing women to believe in themselves and step out of their comfort zones. She is a leading advocate for women in outdoor education and leadership, and she also has a love for baking.

After the hike, join us for a picnic in the park, complete with tea and coffee from our Thermos brews, and a selection of Anzac biscuits. We encourage you to bring a baked item to share, but we will have some biscuits for you regardless of course.

We welcome all women whether it's your first adventure with Women Want Adventure, you've joined us before, or you're simply in search of a biscuit and a beautiful walk.

About the Walk

Lady Carrington Drive trail stretches over 20km, tracing a historic carriage route from Audley to Sir Bertram Stevens Drive. Offering breathtaking views of the Hacking River and the surrounding bushland, this hike is welcoming to all fitness levels.

We plan to walk for approximately 2 hours (roughly an hour up and then returning the same way), covering a distance of around 10km. Afterward, we'll gather in the grassy area near our cars at Fig Tree Flat, by the river, for a coffee/tea and some biscuits to chat and get to know each other better.
