DESCRIPTION OF WALK: The Cape Byron walking track is a 3.7km loop which hikes along the beach, through rainforest and across cliff tops with stunning views of the Cape Byron lighthouse, ocean, hinterland and local marine/wildlife.

The walk takes approximately 1-2 hours. A stopover at the Cape Byron Lighthouse Caf is envisaged where walkers can either purchase morning tea/lunch or bring her own.

HOW TO GET TO THE MEETING LOCATION:

Whilst parking can be a challenge in Byron Bay, parking is usually availbable in the Captain Cook carpark at $4.00 per hour or a parking permit is required. Occasionally, there is free parking in Lee Lane, opposite the Captain Cook carpark. Allow a little extra time for parking just in case.

Meet at the top of the steps down to the beach.

Are there bathrooms at the meeting location?

Yes, there are public toilets available throughout the walk

Can I turn up individually?

Yes

Do I need to be really fit to attend this hike?

No. However, there is a steep ascent with steps to the lighthouse. Whilst some of the walk is on paved path, there are areas on a dirt/sand track and a small section on the beach. This walk will be conducted at a leisurely pace as there are so many beautiful vistas to look at. We can also break the walk with a caf stopover halfway at the Cape Byron Lighthouse Caf .
