For women who want to collect experiences, not things.Book a Trip
If you're looking to get into hiking and meet like-minded women who enjoy the outdoors, this is a fabulous meet-up to join. It's not a well-known trail (even though it is close to Katoomba), which means we will likely have the trail to ourselves.
We will meet at the Locked Gates at the end of Narrow Neck Road where our walk will begin. Heading over the gate, we walk on a fire trail for the first section, which is well maintained. From the Castle Head Sign, the trail turns left into a single bush track and starts going gently uphill before a short steep section to get to the first amazing view point.
As the group walks towards Castle Head Lookout, views of the Ruined Castle where we run our Women s Overnight Hike will start to appear! View this amazing trip here. You will also have views down to the Cox River on the right and the Three Sisters on your left. It s truly breathtaking and a great place to stop and have some morning tea (bring something for yourself or to share if you like!), it s always really nice to sit and relax here for a while.
At the end of the walk, you may like to go back into Katoomba and get a coffee together.
Narrow Neck Plateau Trail is open and it is a well-maintained fire trail. To get to the locked gates, travel by car from the Narrow Neck Plateau Trail turn-off, approximately 5 minutes on the dirt fire trail until you reach the locked gate. Click here for the pinned location. There is often little reception at the locked gate, so please look up where you are going before leaving home and give yourself enough time. View the photos below to see a picture of the locked gate location.
Note: There are no bathrooms at our meeting location. It s best to stop at Katoomba Falls Reserve (view link) before driving out on Narrow Neck Road.
Please remember, you'll be participating at your own risk, as this isn't a guided Women Want Adventure event. Be sure to check the hike's grade to ensure it's suitable for you.
