Travel & Outdoor

Get yourself into hiking and yoga! Both known for their benefits to your fitness as well as your overall health: it s a useful tool for managing stress, moods and making it to the summit.

We are excited to annouce our sister company 'Women Want Yoga' with special hiking and yoga trips. A large number of our community love to get outdoors, go hiking and also enjoy the benefits of yoga.

Women Want Yoga is literally a 'sister' company . Founder and Hiking Leader Monique joins with Qualified Yoga Teacher. Naturopath and sister Yvette Farmer. With their combined qualifications and skills, the aim is to incorporate special events throughout the year to combine the two loves.

To start off the Hiking and Yoga Women's Trips we will be heading to Woronora River in Sydney, NSW.

Woronora River is situated Sydney South in the Sutherland Shire. It has a number of fabulous bush trails and tracks that make their way around the river and valley. It s the perfect place for a relaxing walk and yoga in the hall by the river post hike.

Date: Saturday 24th March 2018

Where: Woronora River Park. Meeting in the Car Park

Meeting Time: 7.45am to leave at 8am for the hike.

Finishing time: We finish the hike at 9am and yoga finishes at 10am.

Hiking Grade: Easy (some uneven surfaces)

Walking Distance: 5km bush circuit loop - 1 hour walking

Cost: $43 pp + booking fee.

Style of Yoga: Gentle Flow (very easy class suited for beginners)

We are walking 5km through the Nature Reserve in Woronora River. The trail starts from Thorpe Road and follows the water pipe up the hill. We then take a circuit walk crossing Forbes Creek Trail through a mix of fire trails and smaller single tracks. There are some hills involved but nothing too strenuous. (Leave your matt at the hall before the hike, you don't need to carry it!).

Post hike at 9am we will arrive back at the yoga hall for 45 minutes of Gentle Flow - Vinyassa style. The class will be a slower and cooler pace style of yoga but no less of a challenge. You will be taught the foundations of a vinyasa flow practice including physical alignment, core stability, breath work and how to bring your mind body breath into present moment awareness.

After yoga we are providing a healthy morning tea with fruits, fresh healthy cakes, dips and more. We cater for vegetarians, gluten free and other dietary requirements.

If you feel like a swim, the river is perfect for a quick dip. Please bring a towel and swimmers. There are change rooms and bathrooms in the hall.

What if it's raining?

Women Want Adventure trips go ahead in all types of weather, unless electrical storms.

We will notify you if there are changes to your trip. Please pack a wet weather jacket or even an umbrella!

What do I wear?

Please wear comfortable walking clothes and inclosed shoes. Please also bring a hat and sunglasses. If it's hot it will be great to go for a swim, so swimmers is a good choice. It is best to wear tights for yoga that can bend and stretch.

I have never done yoga before, will it be hard?

Yvette is creating a very beginner style class for the group. You do not have to hold every pose. Think of this class like a great stretch after an hour of walking.

How old do I have to be to attend?

Women Want Adventure Trips are for ladies over the age of 18 years.
